A Narrow Thorny Road: Master/Slave Relationships as a Spiritual Path
Presented by: Raven Kaldera and Joshua Tenpenny
There’s using D/s and M/s to add a spiritual dimension to a relationship … and then there’s dedicating yourself to this work as a spiritual path in and of itself. This class will explore the latter condition. We’ll compare spiritual power exchange to monasticism, noblesse oblige, asceticism, liege-fealty, and other similar roads. We’ll also dive into difficult questions: Should the master be the slave’s spiritual superior? What if they’re on different paths? What happens when the slave’s spiritual path interferes with the master’s desires? How does one keep a balance between humility and hubris? This is a difficult road, and we need to talk about the thorns.
The Gospel of Power and Surrender: A Leather Reading of Scripture
Christian Scripture is filled with language of power and surrender: masters and servants, obedience and ownership, devotion and submission. For those of us who live within leather traditions, this language can feel surprisingly familiar. Yet the same verses that might resonate with us today have also been used throughout history to justify harm, erase consent, and uphold systems of domination.
Archetypes for Submissive Men
This class is a presentation and discussion of positive expressions of male submission, and the challenges and pitfalls and approaches to creating rewarding relationships. This is aimed at both submissives and those who love them, and both sides of the equation will be addressed. We’ll discuss archetypes, structures, and language, with an initial focus on the concept of the gentleman. We’ll talk about pitfalls, self-image, strength and value, types of submission, and communication.
Spirituality, Religion, Mastery, and Slavery
Presented by: Master IceDog and slave ravyn
Master IceDog and slave ravyn come to the table from very different childhood backgrounds, which means their perspectives on faith and belief differ markedly. Despite those differences, they have built a thriving Master/slave dynamic. In this session, they will:
• Share personal journeys: Both will outline how their individual religious upbringings have shaped, or sometimes conflicted with, their current practices and values.
• Explore spiritual moments in kink: Discuss how rituals, consent negotiations, and moments of surrender can feel profoundly spiritual, regardless of formal religious affiliation.
• Identify parallels and tensions: Examine key teachings from major faith traditions and draw connections (or highlight contradictions) with the principles of a Master/slave relationship, such as concepts of service, humility, authority, and mutual respect.
• Highlight the stakes: Emphasize that ignoring or dismissing the influence of religion on a BDSM dynamic can create hidden friction, misunderstandings, and ultimately a rocky relationship. When these underlying beliefs remain unexplored, resentment can build, trust can erode, and the authority transfer may become unstable.
• Offer practical guidance: Provide strategies for navigating conversations about faith within a BDSM context, respecting each partner’s beliefs while maintaining a healthy level of trust in the authority one has over the other.
Serving While Being Served
Presented by: Sir DaddyDaun and slavegirl j
The Spirituality of One Master
Presented by: Master Malik Husain
Navigating Spiritual Stewardship from the Right Side
Presented by: Sir North and Akasha Eden
What happens when the person who surrenders authority in your relationship and dynamic is the one who holds greater spiritual knowledge, experience, or leadership? This class explores the beautiful complexity of dynamics where an s-type serves as priest, shepherd, spiritual guide, teacher, or more advanced practitioner while maintaining their role on the right side of the slash in their power exchange/authority transfer.
Integrating Buddhist Thought into Your Authority Transfer
Power exchange/authority transfer and Buddhist philosophy might seem like unlikely partners for some, but they share profound common ground in their explorations and implications for concepts such as ego, surrender, suffering, desire, attachment, and liberation. This class examines how core Buddhist concepts can deepen, clarify, and transform your authority transfer dynamics.
Leather and M/s Spirituality as a Mystery Tradition
Many spiritual traditions hold some sort of Mystery Tradition around what cannot be simply taught. Usually marked by an Initiation and/or an Oath of Secrecy, the Mysteries are designed to bring us closer to the Divine through experience at the correct time. But in Leather and M/s, there is no formal Initiation. No Oaths of Secrecy. The practice of Leather and M/s spirituality practices as open as BDSM itself. Yet, many of us have experienced an Initiation of some kind into this practice, and gained an understanding only possible through experience. In short, “If you know you know, and if you don’t, you don’t.” In the first part of this class, we’ll explore the history and traditional definitions of Mystery Traditions, as well as traditions present in Leather and M/s, placing these acts side by side. In the second half, we’ll open the circle for all present to discuss moments of initiation, transformation, rebirth, and when things simply clicked. When does play become transcendent? Why do many of us share an understanding of the Spirituality aspects of M/s when no holy text or standard practices exist? Is there Mystery without Secrecy? As a wise Priesten once said, “Secrets are revealed. Mysteries are revealing.”
Tantra. Oh, My Tantra
Yes, I am a tantra practitioner of twenty years. Yes, this is a talk about tantra philosophy, but I am not “teaching you tantra.” Instead, I hope that you will appreciate this descriptive reporting about my very successful seventeen-years-long dominant/submissive relationship, which ended in 2024. Here is the fascinating part: This talk will be a reporting of how I turned my Roman Catholic male submissive into a credible and consistent tantra partner. He and I satisfied many spiritual needs within the context of the relationship and we had a lot of fun.
Love and Awe - Balancing Fear and Connection in Power Exchange Relationships with inspiration from the Jewish Mystical Tradition
In the Jewish mystical tradition, love and fear are described as two wings, both of which are required for spiritual connection to the Other and to the Divine. This workshop draws on Jewish mystical teachings about the dual nature of love and fear as composite energies. We will explore how fear and awe are not contrary to intimacy, closeness and compassion, but can promote and support it. We will explore the concepts of love and fear as they appear in the Jewish mystical tradition alongside the analogous concepts of compassionate devotion and boundaried respect. These themes will be explored as a toolkit for unravelling common challenges in power exchange, including struggles with pacing and exuberance, the double giver scenario, approaching proactive and anticipatory service and balancing intense experiences and the ordinary across long-term dynamics.
The Alchemy of Healthy Suffering
Suffering for some is a need, a want, a deep desire. There can be something so sexy, so profound about suffering for both top or bottom, or either side of the slash. Many of us also feel called to a spiritual path. How does our spiritual path and our call to suffer or make another suffer intertwine? What ways as giver or receiver has growth or healing in spiritual suffering been found? How does who we spiritually suffer for impact the experience? Let’s take a guided journey together where each individual can personally examine the deep layers of what spiritual suffering means to them and deeper ways to express their spiritual practice through suffering.
The Witch in Service
The Witch is a figure who has, in our collective imagination going back centuries, beguiled, enthralled, and exerted their will upon others. The endgame of cultivating spiritual power through the art of witchcraft is widely considered by the uninitiated to be personal gain and elevation above one’s fellow humans. But what of the Witch who kneels? Salt of Wildwood Cunning invites you to explore the path of the Witch in Service, from spellwork to ritual, to go beyond self-care spells and utilise your craft as an act of devotion.
Fem Lead Relationships Within And Inspired by African Diasporic Traditions
Part history, part conversation, and part notes from lineages of strong women who led relationships, families and communities with a knowing and relationship to the land, the spirit realm and practices that travel from The United States back through the Caribbean islands back to African soil. This talk will engage practices, personalities, deities, and how these pieces have formed a cornerstone in Black life and burgeoning place in Leather, kink, and power exchange.
At the Sacred Edge: Surrender, Service, and Meaning
Why do surrender, service, and devotion feel deeply meaningful for some people? For many submissives, power exchange is about far more than obedience, protocol, or bedroom dynamics. Experiences of trust, service, vulnerability, belonging, and devotion can feel profoundly transformative—sometimes even sacred. Drawing from mythology, archetypal psychology, and lived experience, this discussion explores the deeper psychological and symbolic dimensions of submission. Together we will examine why themes of surrender, sacrifice, initiation, and service appear not only in BDSM, but throughout myths, spiritual traditions, and human storytelling across cultures. This is not a class on how to submit. It is an exploration of meaning, and the often-overlooked sacred dimension that many people discover within power exchange.
The Priestess Who Kneels
For more than 25 years, Dawn’s spiritual journey, including becoming licensed clergy and a High Priestess, has been deeply intertwined with her path in Master/slave power exchange, each enriching and shaping the other. Along the way, she has embraced her calling as a modern Qadishtu, Priestess Top, and ordeal ritual facilitator, officiating Leather and kink weddings and creating sacred experiences that reach from ritual circles to dungeon floors. Her spirituality has been woven into every aspect of her life, including the ways she serves, surrenders, and connects with others. In The Priestess Who Kneels, Dawn shares how spiritual leadership and slavehood can flourish together, challenging the assumption that surrender diminishes our ability to lead, guide, or hold sacred space for others. Drawing from her own experiences, she’ll explore how ritual, energy work, devotion, and personal spiritual practices can enrich power exchange, becoming part of how we experience service, connection, and surrender. For Dawn, being a priestess isn’t a role she steps into. It’s a way of living, loving, serving, and surrendering.
