A Narrow Thorny Road: Master/Slave Relationships as a Spiritual Path

Presented by: Raven Kaldera and Joshua Tenpenny

There’s using D/s and M/s to add a spiritual dimension to a relationship … and then there’s dedicating yourself to this work as a spiritual path in and of itself. This class will explore the latter condition. We’ll compare spiritual power exchange to monasticism, noblesse oblige, asceticism, liege-fealty, and other similar roads. We’ll also dive into difficult questions: Should the master be the slave’s spiritual superior? What if they’re on different paths? What happens when the slave’s spiritual path interferes with the master’s desires? How does one keep a balance between humility and hubris? This is a difficult road, and we need to talk about the thorns.

Building A Spiritual Discipline Around Your Dynamic
Presented by: Raven Kaldera and Joshua Tenpenny

More and more people are drawn to the concept of seeing their power dynamic relationship as a sacred and spiritual discipline … but what do you do after that point of realization? How can one’s relationship be crafted into the centerpoint of a spiritual discipline for both people? Raven and Joshua will walk you through the process of figuring out your own custom-built coupled spiritual practice, if that’s something you are drawn to. We’ll also talk about what to do when the M and s have differing needs for this practice, and how to bridge the gap.

Finding Your Unique Path of Spiritual Service
Presented by: slave joy

slave joy welcomes you to join this interactive presentation where we examine the possibilities of connecting your spirituality to your service to embrace both more fully! She will share her personal path and foundations while giving many variations in hopes of inspiring you. This journey is for anyone to have the opportunity to learn something new about themselves whether you relate to spirituality or not and no matter how you identify. It is encouraged to bring a pen so you can write or draw as we take this journey of self discovery together.

Sacred and Profane: Reverence in Kink and Leather
Presented by: Cody Coyote

In this discussion circle, Cody Coyote invites attendees to exchange stories and practices of how one practices reverence in kink, BDSM, and leather. To revere means to hold or gesture towards a deep respect towards someone, something, or even someplace. What does it mean to honor not just the person wearing leather and gear, but, more importantly, the leathers/gear themselves? How do we venerate the animal and plant spirits whom we come to touch, whether through ownership or service? To approach Leather, kink, and BDSM spiritually, one must cherish the life given — oftentimes lost — for us to adorn ourselves with leather and use implements. Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring leather/gear to care and attend to, along with their own stories and practices to share, in this discussion.
Writing the Sacred in M/s

Presented by: E.I. Saint

Not all service is physical. Some of it is written. Some is remembered. Some is conjured into being through ink, longing, and ritual. Sometimes this service is offered to a Master, whether realized or only hoped for, and sometimes it is given to the community itself, or even to the self that seeks becoming.

Writing the Sacred in M/s is an immersive exploration of language, devotion, and divine power exchange. Blending the poetic with the practical, this class invites participants to discover writing as a sacred act: an offering, a ritual, a way to speak the ineffable. Whether you serve, are served, or are still waiting for the one who will finally command you to kneel, there is space here for you.

Together, through theory, live readings, and Saint’s usual brand of impious silliness we will write, reflect, and laugh. No prior experience is required, only a willingness to explore what emerges when your truth meets the page. Whether your devotion lives beside you or only visits in dreams, bring your desire to document, your ache, your reverence, and your ridiculousness.

The Gospel of Power and Surrender: A Leather Reading of Scripture
Presented by: LeatherChaplain

Christian Scripture is filled with language of power and surrender: masters and servants, obedience and ownership, devotion and submission. For those of us who live within leather traditions, this language can feel surprisingly familiar. Yet the same verses that might resonate with us today have also been used throughout history to justify harm, erase consent, and uphold systems of domination.

In this study, we’ll look closely at these passages, not to avoid their tension but to enter it. Together, we’ll explore the scriptures we’ve often heard and ask what they might mean for us now, as people seeking to live with integrity, intention, and heart within our D/s, M/s, and kink-informed relationships.
Through open conversation and sacred curiosity, we’ll uncover the “good stuff,” the radical, reverent, and sometimes red-hot truths about power, surrender, and connection that emerge when ancient words meet the leather lives we actually live.
Archetypes for Submissive Men
Presented by: Monsignor X

This class is a presentation and discussion of positive expressions of male submission, and the challenges and pitfalls and approaches to creating rewarding relationships. This is aimed at both submissives and those who love them, and both sides of the equation will be addressed. We’ll discuss archetypes, structures, and language, with an initial focus on the concept of the gentleman. We’ll talk about pitfalls, self-image, strength and value, types of submission, and communication.

Spirituality, Religion, Mastery, and Slavery

Presented by: Master IceDog and slave ravyn

Religion is one of those subjects that can feel especially risky and challenging to discuss. What one person calls spirituality, another may label religion, and many people find that moments in their kinky lives take on a distinctly spiritual quality.
Master  IceDog and slave  ravyn come to the table from very different childhood backgrounds, which means their perspectives on faith and belief differ markedly. Despite those differences, they have built a thriving Master/slave dynamic. In this session, they will:
• Share personal journeys: Both will outline how their individual religious upbringings have shaped, or sometimes conflicted with, their current practices and values.
• Explore spiritual moments in kink: Discuss how rituals, consent negotiations, and moments of surrender can feel profoundly spiritual, regardless of formal religious affiliation.
• Identify parallels and tensions: Examine key teachings from major faith traditions and draw connections (or highlight contradictions) with the principles of a Master/slave relationship, such as concepts of service, humility, authority, and mutual respect.
• Highlight the stakes: Emphasize that ignoring or dismissing the influence of religion on a BDSM dynamic can create hidden friction, misunderstandings, and ultimately a rocky relationship. When these underlying beliefs remain unexplored, resentment can build, trust can erode, and the authority transfer may become unstable.
• Offer practical guidance: Provide strategies for navigating conversations about faith within a BDSM context, respecting each partner’s beliefs while maintaining a healthy level of trust in the authority one has over the other.
Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how religion and kink can intersect, why it’s essential to bring this conversation into the open, and concrete ideas for fostering a respectful, authentic M/s dynamic that embraces, or thoughtfully negotiates, their respective belief systems.
Serving While Being Served

Presented by: Sir DaddyDaun and slavegirl j

Sir DaddyDaun was raised in a Southern Baptist family with eight, yes eight, ministers in Her immediate family.  Service is the very core of Her being.  Those roots have morphed from ‘organized religion’ to a broader spirituality.  She not only had to come to grips with changing how She served Her Higher Powers but how to do this while allowing another to serve Her.  Meanwhile Her slave, girl j was raised to never ‘buy into’ any religion ever.  Ever.  Breaking away from those rules, she found her calling was to serve a Master who served Their Higher Powers.  Join Sir DaddyDaun and slavegirl j as T/they share how T/their separate paths of Master and slave joined into one of a spiritual Master/slave dynamic.
The Spirituality of One Master

Presented by: Master Malik Husain

In this presentation, I shall share my views, and only mine, of my concept of Sufi Spirituality in the unique and fascinating dynamics of Master and slave. Spirituality, as we all know, is highly subjective. This remarkable concept has been with mankind, from the beginning of time. Not only that, I believe that in this time of turmoil and chaos and division, this thirst for spirituality has increased manyfold. How I see my slaves through this prism of Spirituality is unique and individual to me. How I interact with them is equally unique and individual. The idea of, the desire and yes, a hunger to see into, perhaps only a glimpse, from time to time, their spirit and soul is paramount, for this brings me close to what I am to my core. And this feeds my hunger of my spirit and soul. It is especially important to me now as we are getting older and facing end-of-life challenges. These active relationships, based on power being imbalanced and still finding its equilibrium, are fascinating to say the least. And then when this beautiful dance is infused with these elements of Spirituality, it is heavenly … at least to this humble man of the desert who is graciously called “Master” by his charges.
Navigating Spiritual Stewardship from the Right Side

Presented by: Sir North and Akasha Eden

What happens when the person who surrenders authority in your relationship and dynamic is the one who holds greater spiritual knowledge, experience, or leadership? This class explores the beautiful complexity of dynamics where an s-type serves as priest, shepherd, spiritual guide, teacher, or more advanced practitioner while maintaining their role on the right side of the slash in their power exchange/authority transfer.

Integrating Buddhist Thought into Your Authority Transfer

Presented by: Akasha Eden

Power exchange/authority transfer and Buddhist philosophy might seem like unlikely partners for some, but they share profound common ground in their explorations and implications for concepts such as ego, surrender, suffering, desire, attachment, and liberation. This class examines how core Buddhist concepts can deepen, clarify, and transform your authority transfer dynamics.

Positions of Adoration

Presented by: professor kitty

The first thing that comes to mind many of us think about positions of adoration in the Lifestyle are Gorean slave positions.  These positions fall into one of three main categories – variations of bowing, kneeling, and prostration.  professor kitty has always found these positions meaningful and beautiful.  Yet, from the time she was a chiId, professor kitty was taught that Judaism forbids bowing down. Reconciling this dichotomy was what prompted her to begin researching the topic and to put together this class.
This class is an exploration of positions of adoration.  It starts with the Gorean slave positions – categorized as bowing, kneeling, and prostration – and explains how they are, in fact similar to positions of adoration used for prayer in a multitude of religions including Judaism.
Finding Yourself Through Religious Challenges

Presented by: Master Penguin and slave ginna

Many of us have a religious background that can sometimes conflict with the things we do. In this class Master Penguin and slave ginna will talk about how their various religious upbringing has shaped thier journey in the lifestyle as Leather, queer and polyamorous  folks. We will talk about challenges and hang ups along the way in finding ourselves. As well as how we have utilized the good aspects of our journey which after not only our relationships with our higher power but also how we interact with other humans. We will talk about some of the toxic Catholic/Christian doctrine that has hindered our journey and how we have learned to accept ourselves and others on whatever spiritual journey they are on…
The D/s (M/s) Container Always has Spiritual Choices

Presented by: Mistress Sky

Spirituality does not reduce to meditative practices while sitting crosslegged on a mat.  We learn on the mat but we still have to get up and live a human life.  We still have to fulfill our commitments within our relationship(s).  Eva Pierrakos:  “This path is immensely pragmatic, for the true spiritual life is never in contradiction to practical life on earth.  There must be a harmony between these two aspects of the whole.  Forsaking everyday living is not true spirituality.”  Allow me to show you how to bring your spiritual practices into everyday life.  I’ll teach us how to choose heaven (or not) in your emotional everyday moments.  We’ll discuss vulnerability, commitment, joy, and desire and reinterpret even commonplace decision making as spiritual choice.
